WebODM 3D Model of a Garden – Optimal Settings

Hello everyone,

I am new to WebODM and have already carried out a few test runs. However, I still need some advice to achieve better results.

I would like to capture my approximately 500 m² allotment garden as a highly detailed 3D model, including the vegetation and buildings. For this, I am using a DJI Lito X1 and my smartphone.

The model is primarily intended as a hobby project and will later be published on a website.

I have the following questions:

  • Which WebODM settings are recommended for creating the most detailed 3D model possible?

  • How many photos should I take?

  • Which flight altitudes and flight paths are recommended? The highest point in the garden is approximately 4 m above ground level.

  • Should I also take additional photos with my smartphone from ground level to capture building façades and vegetation?

During my previous test runs, I only get a white screen when selecting the “Load Textures” output. Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this?

Could this possibly be due to my hardware?

Thank you very much for your tips and experiences!

Best regards,

Sebastian
