Turntable?

I don’t have time to play with this, but I’m wondering if anyone in the community is interested in building a turntable like this and testing it out with OpenDroneMap? I’d be super interested to see how it turns out:

Looks like it’s just a print, a bluetooth remote, and an arduino kit:

Hmm, there’s also this: https://en.openscan.eu/

Anyway, Happy New Year all!

I think you’ll have trouble using ODM with a turntable. You need camera motion for photogrammetry to work. On the other hand, using a depth sensor (the new iPhone “lidar” sensor for example) would probably yield very good results.

If your lighting is relatively even, and you mask the background, turntables will work fine for ODM. If you have harsh directional light, the turntable approach will have artifacts or fail.

Also, this caught my eye: https://www.instructables.com/3D-Body-Scanner-Using-Raspberry-Pi-Cameras/

Used a potters wheel, one light above, but moderately even lighting, and slow-mo mode on the old cell phone camera:

(I was too lazy to mask)
