Mapping over water

Hi I am trying to map over water (ocean) I have a gig to shoot a new jetty that will be 1Km long from shore. No land around. I have been shooting on over cast days, low tide, etc. Trying to control what I can. The software I am using is DJI Terra. It is leaving weird artifacts. I am not using my RTK. Basically my maps are not being used to build by but to direct crews.
So I am wondering if I turned out my RTK and put some D-RTK station out to get accurate data. If the software would be better at linking up the shots. Would the software use the meta date embedded into the images to link them? Just asking if it is worth it to buy the equipment to have ground points, and if the software would use that information because it is more exact?

You cannot map over water with OpenDroneMap software, unless you can also capture some of the land in each image (but sounds like this is not the case here).

Maybe “plotting” the footprint of the individual images is more helpful than trying to make an (impossible) map
