Have there been thoughts on establishing a long-term stable version of WebODM?
While it’s nice to use software that’s experiencing growth and development, I’ve noticed comment threads that suggest that occasionally updates generate unanticipated changes in how the software operates - most notably, how long it takes a job to process.
For my personal use, this is not an issue. However, for use in a commercial or educational institution setting, this wouldn’t be ideal.
Back in my I.T. career days, we would have a test suite to run to verify that new revisions to the software were safe to release to production users. It seems to me that the volunteer nature of the WebODM community might make that possible without undue burden on the development community.
Sets of data could be maintained for users to process themselves for the testing. That would be meaningful only if a “shapshot” or version of WebODM could be identified.
This has been on my mind today because in my shuffling around of my computing environment I’ve experienced some unusually long run times on image datasets I test with - on the same equipment I’ve used before - but with the latest updates.
