I may have to have different family members join the Community to finish this thing off if no one else steps up. COME ON FOLKS – It aint’ much!!
That’s a good question. Can I have my wife donate?
Mm, that’s a good question that the original quadratic funding paper does not address. Personally I’d say it comes down to whether you are considered the same “entity” (is your wife truly and independently interested in getting a feature funded? If so then OK. Otherwise, probably not).
Can I do a post on the blog now?.. ![]()
Maybe that would push it over the top… .
I’m going to do a write up after the funding period has ended, but if you want to do one before, sure! or just send a tweet…
I can tweet again about it. I am the worst social media manager… .
I reached out to the ArduPilot gitter… Hopefully someone there is interested and using OpenDroneMap already!
Woo! Filterpoints funded!
Yep! So exciting!
Update on the fund and next steps coming soon.
Blog update! A new era of open source funding? How we raised $5,099 for core work. - OpenDroneMap
Work on parallelizing odm_filterpoints can begin!
Are you planning to enable any other ways of funding/sponsorship? There doesn’t seem to be any way to donate few euros towards general maintenance etc if that’s even needed. I’d like to see this project to thrive and exist in the future and fund.webodem.org is quite hidden/requires looking trough the forums even though the idea is good. Personally I prefer as easy as possible solutions for sponsorship
Welcome, Jimbo!
In general, I think the idea for financial support of OpenDroneMap development is to find and use products/services from UAV4Geo (https://uav4geo.com/).
Direct donations can become a bit of a beast to manage which is why some FOSS projects shy away from them (especially outside of the context of “barn raising” projects or without fairly high minimums).
The idea behind the WebODM Quadratik fund is to engage the wider community, including businesses or folks that would stand to directly benefit from the fundraising, so that we can tackle larger projects in sprints.
Of course, there is always the option to directly sponsor Piero via GitHub Sponsors as well:
One other way to support the project could also be to just subscribe to the Business-subscription in Lightning, without processing anything ![]()
