File Names

Hi everyone - I have a question regarding asset downloads. After assembly when I select to download Orthophoto, and then choose my GeoTiff format (raw or RGB, does not impact my issue) and directly download, the TIFF file name is a terrible character sequence that means nothing relevant to the Project name, for example. But, at least they are individualized and traceable to the task ID. And the file extension is as expected - .tiff.

However, if I change the name of the file at the time of download, the downloaded file does not retain the expected file extension and becomes a generic file that is not automatically readable by any app, etc…

How do others deal with this? Simply download with the taskID file name and manually change everything afterwards? Is there another option here?

Thanks!!

Can you post a screenshot? It’s strange because the filename should be set to the project’s name.

Edit: I meant the task name

Hi Piero,

Screenshot attached. First is the project name, next is me keeping the default file name, followed by renaming after the project name, and final is both in the downloads folder so you can see the resulting file extensions.

And actually now that I am looking at this closely, its not even the task ID, it appears to just be a random character string or related to the “Task of…” line?

Cheers!

The name is the same as your task name (which you can set when you create a task):

Yeah, ok. That’s my bad! I somehow missed that field entirely! But, it doesn’t explain why the file extension is removed if I manually rename at the time of saving the asset…?

Yeah the missing extension is strange, I think it might be a quirk with Electron (the app that runs WebODM).
