I know this is not a WebODM topic but I was wondering if anyone on the forum has done any 3D Laser scanning (intel realsense depth camera, occipital structure core). I’m interested in buying one of these and noticed that like drone software there are lots of capture software packages available but most of them (unlike drone capture software) have a monthly or yearly cost.
Does anyone know of free open source software packages that aid in the capture of 3D laser scan data. I’m familiar with cloud compare and blender for pointcloud processing and mesh processing but I want a package to capture data from the camera.
My use case would be internal room scans and also outdoor building facades with the potential to merge point clouds with drone captured imagery.
Laan labs created a pretty amazing app that uses the ipad 12 Pro lidar camera and lets you scan objects as well as rooms. It’s free and so far I see no hidden fees for any processing.
from the app store…
3d Scan places and objects in color 3d. Requires a LIDAR camera sensor device, such as the iPad Pro or iPhone 12 Pro.
Easily share your 3d scans in iMessage & AR Quicklook using the USDZ format. Additionally export your scans in popular formats such as OBJ, GLTF, GLB, DAE, and STL.
Also export your model as a raw point cloud in formats: PTS, PCD, PLY, and XYZ.
