I was wondering if here is a way to add image files in WebODM not by uploading them through web interface, but getting WebODM to pull them from remote cloud storage like Google Drive or Mega or just from local folder on the same machine where WebODM is installed.

Do you mean WebODM Lightning Dashboard, or how so?
There is a Cloud Import Plugin you can enable for WebODM Desktop/Docker, but I don’t think it supports many different sources.
I know some users are working on improving it.

I have WebODM installed on cloud hosting and wanted to feed it from another cloud storage where some datasets are stored not having to download them first on my machine then upload them again into WebODM… something like this.
I could write a script that would be pulling the datasets (uploaded by others) from remote storage straight to WebODM server, but not sure how WebODM could add them into the project and process.
But I see now there is a room for improvement of such integrations I could work on as well 
I should probably use ODM API to work on this task?

With my limited understanding, yes, I think this is the best approach.
