Speed increase in time after cpu upgrade

It’s no surprise to see a increase after upgrading from a Ryzen 2600 to a 3700X but I run a dataset before and after to se the difference.

Dataset:
90 * 20mp images
GSD 10mm

Settings:
Ultra everything!

Computer:
1TB SSD
64gb ram

Time:
Ryzen 2600. → 5:52:40
Ryzen 3700X → 3:50:48

That’s about 2h or 35% less time.

I will run the second test that had a time of 15:18:33 and I believe it will just take about 10h now.

Let’s say I had a larger dataset that took 3 days on the 2600, that would be a little less that 2 days on the 3700X.

So a small upgrade can improve things a bit.

Nice upgrade!

Not really a small upgrade at all. Nearly 2x perf!

About 40% increase. But looking at cost to upgrade I consider it to be small. There’s beefier cpus out there.

My computer can’t be upgraded much more now, I’m just changing cpu cooler because the stock cooler is a bit loud under max load.

The dense reconstruction is the most power hungry part, about 90% of my 64gb ram is used in the end of reconstruction.
