Potree 3D viewer displays point cloud all in black

Hello all, I processed some tasks last week and one of them had the issue of displaying the point cloud all in black. The 2D view was like normal.

orthophoto-resolution: 2.0, dem-resolution: 2.0, dsm: true, camera-lens: brown, depthmap-resolution: 1000

Anybody had the same issue? I did try to re-upload the zipped task file but Potree diplayed the point cloud the same way. What could be the problem?

By the way, very nice work with the new GCP editor

Mm, perhaps it’s the browser? Does it look normal with another dataset?

Yes - normal with other datasets.

I have tried Brave, Firefox and Chrome - all the same.

Hi Mattias, did you find a solution to this? I’ve got one dataset with exactly the same problem. Point cloud in black, texture normal. And it’s just this one dataset. Tried different browsers, but it’s not a browser issue.

I’ve actually run it on an older version of ODM some time back and then never had the problem.blackdots

Does it work if you disable the dome lighting option? https://github.com/OpenDroneMap/WebODM/pull/874

I re-ran the same dataset selecting use-opensfm-dense. This time the point cloud came out with RGB colours. Not sure why it didn’t without.

Hi Mattias, Hi Patrickza, Hi Pierotofy,
I’ve been processing a task with Potreeconverter. I put in a .pts file in Cloucompare and I put out a .las file.I processed .las file with Potree genereting the .html. Once I upload on the web with a browser (Mozilla or Chrome) it display the point cloud all in black. How can I solve this problem? Originally the dots are coloured but in the browser are all black. Can you help me some way?

Welcome!

It seems like one step during your conversions is dropping the RGB values from the data.
