Hi, I am trying to monitor specific piece of forest by repeated flights and comparing the resulting pointclouds prepared in WebODM (Thanks for this great tool btw)
I noticed, that suddenly there was a significant decrease in number of points in the pointcloud.
Trying to find the reason by comparing the console output I have found out, that in the recent time (after some update) there is a new option called PC-quality which is set to medium by default.
I would like to ask if I am correct that this is a new option in WebODM recently
Thanks
Yes, this option was added for OpenDroneMap 2.2.1 with this commit:
Currently, you can still use the legacy configuration flag, but since it is marked for deprecation, it will be disabled at some point.
Yes, this has been recently added (the last weeks). We’re trying to improve the user experience for setting quality, and this setting is a part of that attempt.
You should see improved point density and quality (given a higher and not default setting there) as we’ve also replaced the library that does the dense point cloud calculations.
I am sorry, could you please describe a little bit more in detail how to use the legacy configuration flag?
Sorry and thanks so much
Edit - no need for explanation, already found “depthmap-resolution (positive float)”
again, thanks
I’m getting excellent results by setting PC-quality to “ultra,” but it does take a bit longer. These point clouds are a significant improvement in export density, and blend well with terrestrial lidar data.
You should be using the new pc-quality flag the legacy flag will likely be removed at some point.
