Freezes at reconstruct - Can't find file

Have searched and found some limited information on this topic, of WebODM freezing, but nothing specific for answer.

Have been using on Windows for a while. Last few times when processing it freezes. Last few lines:

That is the last message I receive when it freezes entire system.

When reopened get this message in processing box: b35fd1fb-9203-4c46-8313-1277584ccf7c not found

Current project 110 images, previously processed on same system no problems.
Current setting: Fast Orthophoto (Crashes on all settings this was the latest run)
Running WEBODM version 2.0.1 - Just upgraded, previous version did the same

System:
Windows 10 - all current
Intel i9 10 Gen 3.70 Ghz
Psy RAM 80 GB
HD 549 GB Free
Graphics NVIDIA RTX 2070

No System Errors, No hardware errors

Please advise if I am missing a setting or what to do to correct.

Sorry for the trouble.

Can you tell us a bit more about your dataset and your processing parameters?

That behavior sounds like you’re running out of RAM and are hitting pagefile.

Dataset is
104 images from AUTEL. Each file is apx 1.31 GB
Running: OPTION default of FAST ORTHOPHOTO
Processing Node: NODE-ODM-1 (queue:0)
Resize Images: No

Tried to keep as simple as possible.

Nothing else running on system during processing. This is dedicated to ODM when running.
It was working fine a few months back. Last couple of upgrades started having freezing issue. Been searching for answers for a few months and now at a point where I am lost.

RAM Memory on this machine is 80GB.

Not a programmer, but know basics. Let me know if you have other questions. or recommended settings.

You can try with pc-skip-geometric, which will emulate older behavior.

Also, can you try processing a known-good dataset like Brighton Beach Road?

Sorry don’t know how to download that file set to my system. I click on an image and it opens, but did not want to just save it as I did not know if it keep it’s own data the metafile. So, you gotta help or tell me how to download the set.

Beyond that, I did try to go back to the basics, and resize images down. Also tried to process same images on another system, it worked fine. What I am finding on my system is it is stopping in the same place every time, regardless of settings:

It is always at this same point when it tries to reconstruct. It then gives me an error that it can not find the file. In looking, I can not find it either. Below are the last three runs showing where it stops and freezes up the entire system. I have to hard reset each time.

You can enable the Cloud Import Plugin under the Admin panel, and then use the link I provided to fetch the data.

Are you using WebODM for Windows native or under Docker/WSL2?

I will get a check on this tonight, download the files and advise.

This is where it freezes up. Locks up the screen and whole system.

It did not used to do this. It used to work fine. now… can’t get it to stop freezing.

As I am not good on the line edits of everything, I think I am using WEBODM for WIndows… I purchased and using the download installer for windows on this. As said, origionally worked fine, but seems the last couple of upgrades are now not working.

Is there a way I can remove this entriely from my system, getting rid of all previous files, references, everyting and try to reinstall it? Or if you have other suggestion, pelase advise.

Yep, you can run the uninstall from the Control Panel to remove it, delete the directory it installed to (C:\WebODM), and then remove the AppData Folder for it (%AppData%\WebODM).

Will try that to see if there is some strange setting or something that is off. Will advise.

Latest…

  1. Uninstalled via Control Panel
  2. Deleted from Directory
  3. Deleted from App Data
  4. Ran Disk search to find any other indication of program
  5. Turned off and restarted to clear any memory
  6. Checked Registry for anything remaining (could not find)
  7. Rechecked hard drive for any thing on program

After all clear turned off and reinstalled.

  • Loaded B. Beach images to process
  • Processing on default

Freezes up again at reconstruct. When reopen it tells me file not found error.

Went though above and tried one more time, but run as system administrator thinking that maybe it had something to do with writing.

Same error again at same point. It hits that section and all things stop. No mouse movement, no keyboard access, the entire system just freezes.

No other programs on this system are doing this. It is setup and used as a graphic system, running mostly adobe products and this one. Memory on disk is wide open, High RAM, Graphic Cards, etc… all built for processing data. It was being used to process the drone images, until it started freezing.

Let me know if there is something else I should be checking for. I am at a total loss on this on especially in that it was working fine when first installed apx. 7/23/22.

At this point, it sounds like disk or filesystem corruption, unless you are running an anti-virus other than Windows Defender.

Running only defender for anti-virus. For disk, running SSD on this one. I will have the system recheck the disk. Nothing found when previously checked. And no other programs are having an issue.

Will run some more check and advise.

If the regular way of doing the chkdsk doesn’t turn anything up, I can advise on how to perform a system check that is more rigorous.
