Fast Orthophoto wasn't so fast

Just processed this orthophoto using the fast orthophoto setting, and it wasn’t so fast

The data set was 406 photos, taken using mini2 in winds that were gusting to just below 30MPH, processing was done on my desktop PC:

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, ASUS® ROG STRIX X570-F GAMING, 32GB Corsair VENGEANCE RGB PRO DDR4 3200MHz (4 x 8GB), RTX2070 Super

This is the result, which I must say I’m quite pleased with

What’s your settings?

Sift is really slow and orb is very fast but can give errors. I usually recommend Hahog + Flann as it’s reliable and pretty fast.

It would be great to have a place for us to learn about optimised settings. APOS80 info like you’ve just given here is quite valuable, we can still experiment but have a good place to start. <3

That would be nice.

Although it starts with how you take/snap the photos.

I just used the preset fast orphophoto setting from the drop down

I don’t really know what settings is there as I just do my own.

There’s a checkbox in the settings for fast ortophoto but that only affects the ortophoto stitching and such, not the matching(I think).

I would recommend buying the book on ODM, it goes through like everything, I have the paperback at home and it really helped in the beginning.

I’ve subscribed to the updated edition but I think it is still being edited/written

It is. The last I spoke with Piero about it, it is an almost complete re-write, which was a mild surprise for him. But indeed: much has changed and improved, so there’s much that needs rewritten from scratch.

I hope there will be a paper-book to order because I like turning pages.
