Cannot process dataset - Part ##

Hi
I have uninstalled and reinstalled WebODM. The photo quality is very good.
Suddenly I am getting a “Cannot process dataset” failure.
There is 815 images in total and I have tried smaller subsets with no success either.
There is tons of overlap and I have upped the min num-features to 40000 too with no success.
Please help.

Can you please try on a current release? WebODM for Windows native is at v1.9.15 Build 65, and ODM stand-alone is at v2.8.7

I will try B but I am seeing build 66 on the download. Still good?

hmmm… It looks like at least one of the images is corrupted or malformed and it is causing an issue.

Thanks Saijin. I found 5 corrupt images and tossed them. Is there anything else I should be looking for?
I am also having trouble with a multispectral set I flew at the same time but I will post in a different thread.

No, nothing I can think of. Do you still have the corrupt ones somewhere? They might be helpful as test data to see if we can do something with broken input images, or maybe to gracefully drop them instead of failing on them.

I removed the corrupt images and reran. I am afraid it failed again. The log is too long to attach so I just put some of it in below.
Not sure from that how you tell what it is failing on.
There is plenty of overlap in this set.
It was windy when I flew it so the drone was probably moving a little faster on the downwind legs…
Just groping for an answer to this one.
Did anything change in the online component of this process in the last month?
I have always found webODM to be quite forgiving on alignment issues.

Dear Forum:
I have gone out and flown another mission with a Sony A6000 on auto settings.
It took 96 images or so fine and then a bunch were out of focus and then one was corrupt on the SD card and then 25 or so were out of focus and then back to normal sometimes a corrupt file will appear with no out of focus images on either side of it.
If you look at the file sizes the out of focus ones are only about half the size of the in focus images!

What is going here?

Can it be the speed of the SD card?
Is the SD card faulty? I reformatted it yesterday.
I am running the camera in “Intelligent Auto” mode but this has always been the case.

This has never happened before this last week!

I’ve never overwhelmed a card with stills on a Sony A6000, but if the card is dying (which does happen), it will start to lose data. Definitely worth trying another card.

I am processing a dataset with 936 images. I tried it on a 20 core windows server and it has been running for two days with no result yet!
I have looked through all the images and they look great.

What are your processing settings?

I have tried a few. Just running now with defaults and it is into 24 hours!

When I’ve processed ~1000 20MPx photos on my server with 512GB RAM and dual 20-core CPUs, using CPU only (no GPU) it’s taken around 3.5 hours with default settings, typically using up to ~50GB RAM and ~50GB disk space.

What are your machine details (RAM, swap, disk, etc)?
Can you monitor how much of the available RAM it is consuming?

Its a Dell server with Xeon 20 core 2.6 Ghz processor with 128GB of RAM and 21 TB of storage.
Can’t be running out of resources I wouldn’t think.

I really wanted to know if the Success: False message message at the end of this log strings is a flag of a failure of some kind.
Is it?

No it isn’t. It just means that 20 or more robust matched points were not found.
However, if this makes up the majority of your attempted matches, then you need to increase the number of features detected. I note that the initial matches numbers are quite low, in the 20s, what about for adjacent images, how do the numbers look there? Often in adjacent images with high overlap I see thousands to tens of thousands, sometimes around 100000 matches.

It is a forested area shot from 85 meters and 80% overlap. The images themselves look great but I think it is having trouble matching with the varying aspect of the trees as it flies over. Does that sound right to you? What are my best settings for this situation? I shot with Micasense and RGB Sony A6000 in the same flight and both solutions are having problems matching it appears. Some of the mosaic resolves great but some of the overlap paths have blurs and swirls in them.
Have you got a set of settings best suited for this?

I have same problem, but I have processed and I have obtained the risult, aftere this I have setted the GCP poin and I have got the problem, what can I do to risolve the problem. With the same picture zephir free obtain a good result

Was it windy when you took the images? Dense canopies with wind is a poor combination, as there will be very few common features between images. The changing aspect of the trees as you fly over is a good thing for building the point cloud, but as mentioned above, wind can make things very difficult.
