I am Ryan a surveyor from Philippines. Very interested to learn about ODM.
I have been using PIX4DMapper since 2016, planning to try ODM very soon. I do mapping with my Mavic 2 Pro. Mostly my clients need the orthomosaic and topo (contour) data.
What I do with PIX4DMapper is manually create tie points through the NEW POLYLINE command and click on the ground/open areas of the point cloud then extract the polyline and use the vertex points to process contour in civil 3d. This way I will only use the ground points instead of having points from the vegetation and other outliers.
Can ODM do this? Manually create points and extract? Or does it have a better algorithm to categorize ground points from man-made points or vegetation?
Hoping to learn more and use ODM for my upcoming project.

Jeff From Australia - Commercial fixed wing Pilot and UAV pilot working in Ecology sphere developing thermal wildlife survey techniques. Many UAV hours of photogrammetry and thermal data collection with units from P3 through to M300 RTK with H20T & H20N. Have WebODM local host and lightning business subscriptions on both PC and Mac - love the program - normally just push the go button and come back 30 mins later for the output - but just recently having previously unseen issues on both platforms. Will further define the issues in separate threads - likely to be my lack of computer literacy. In the mean time if anyone is interested happy to talk/ discuss on all things flying, wildlife and vegetation ecological monitoring and where we hope to develop these areas in the future

I bought old DJI Phantom 3 Standard drone in order to try its possibilities and experiment a bit.
My dream about using drone for mapping is to integrate drone based maps with google maps in way that it show me a regular map where there is no mapping by me, and my mappings instead of google’s map source in places where I used my drone to map.
I’m new to mapping technology and trying use many applications to do it. Starting from Litchi, by DroneDeploy and lastly trying Map Pilot Pro.
I don’t know if a have not got a luck, but unfortunately I have a issue with each of them, and cannot start drone mapping mission
I got frustrated of this and close to nervous breakdown over this
I also try to use a drone as a flaying platform for placing some sensors and gathering some environmental data
