Split/merge function


Looking at the split/merge function…. According to the documentation: “It will also alleviate the need for Ground Control.” Does this mean split merge replaces the need for using gcp_list.txt?
If so, how does this work?


Hmm, that word choice could perhaps be improved. Ground control provides two functions – one is to reference the model to a know coordinate system to a (hopefully) known accuracy. The second is to provide consistency within a dataset. This section refers to the latter function in large datasets – relative accuracy across a split large dataset is maintained with this approach. Sadly, there’s no magic to fix the first function. That requires either RTK/PPK GPS or ground control
